BAAA February Program - VMFA Curator, Valerie Cassel Oliver

The Friday, Feb. 6th speaker will be Valerie Cassel Oliver from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. She will talk about the latest VMFA exhibition (ending March 1st, 2026), Giants: Art From the Dean Collection of Swizz Beats and Alicia Keys. The exhibit features more than 130 works of art by 36 Black artists from Africa, Europe, the US, and the Caribbean. Valerie will talk about the collection and the curation of the art. Her work, as curator, often focuses on highlighting artists of different social and cultural backgrounds.
