BAAA October Program

The Oct. 2nd BAAA program will be given be Dr. Alyssa Hughes of the VMFA and the topic is The Language of Flowers. Dr. Hughes is the Works on Paper Specialist for the Frank Rayson Collection at the VMFA. She is a European Art Historian with a focus on Northern Renaissance/ Dutch and Flemish art. Her talk will focus on the still life tradition in European and American art and into the Victorian tradition of flowers as a visual language. This language draws its background from mythology, religion, history and the natural world. The “language” developed over time and is still developing.
